The University of California Global Health Institute (UCGHI) advances local and global health equity so our people and planet thrive.

The University of California Global Health Institute leverages the research, teaching expertise and power of all ten University of California campuses by fostering relationships across institutions and communities, locally and internationally.

The relationships built through the Institute lead to meaningful partnerships which enable creative approaches and successful grantsmanship built on mutual trust and learning. We train the next generation of diverse leaders through our global health career opportunities pathway. We support health equity and advance health justice using cross-disciplinary, transcultural, and community-based research and advocacy to impact change.

We are lifelong learners working collaboratively to disrupt power structures that perpetuate health inequities and disparities in the State of California and globally.

In our work, we value:

Our Guiding Values: Belonging, Trustworthiness, Courageousness, Transdisciplinarity, and Healing Ecosystems.

2023-2024 Annual Report

I am impressed, not only by the deeply impactful work done by our Centers, Programs, partners, projects, and learners, but also by the single characteristic shared by each person I have the pleasure to interact with – compassion.
